Pere Balsells guardonat amb la Creu de Sant Jordi 2013.<\/strong>
\nLa Generalitat de Catalunya acaba d\u2019anunciar que Pere Balsells, soci i passat president del Casal dels Catalans de Calif\u00f2rnia, ha estat guardonat aquest any amb la Creu de Sant Jordi. \u00a0La Creu de Sant Jordi \u00e9s un dels m\u00e0xims reconeixements que pot rebre una persona per part de la Generalitat de Catalunya. La distinci\u00f3 es va crear el 1981 amb la finalitat de distingir les persones naturals o jur\u00eddiques que, pels seus m\u00e8rits, hagin prestat serveis destacats a Catalunya.<\/p>\n

El comunicat de la Generalitat diu:
\nPere Balsells i Jofre . Empresari. Per la seva traject\u00f2ria d\u2019\u00e8xit als Estats Units d\u2019Am\u00e8rica i per la valuosa implicaci\u00f3 en la formaci\u00f3 d\u2019universitaris catalans, sobretot mitjan\u00e7ant el programa de beques Balsells\u2013Generalitat de Catalunya en l\u2019\u00e0mbit de l\u2019enginyeria, en col\u00b7laboraci\u00f3 amb la Universitat de Calif\u00f2rnia. La seva estimaci\u00f3 pel nostre pa\u00eds s\u2019ha tradu\u00eft en altres iniciatives de caire educatiu i cultural.<\/p>\n

For his successful endeavors in the United States of America and for his involvement in the education of Catalan university students, especially in connection with the Balsells-Generalitat de Catalunya Fellowships in Engineering in collaboration with the University of California.
